Tech Companies Put Onus On Women To Protect Themselves From Cyber Crime

The rapid development of new technologies often outpaces its thoughtful application. According to new research from the University of Pennsylvania, new tech and the apps that go along with it have consequences for women’s safety, both positive and negative.

In 2015, a United Nations report claimed that nearly 75% of female Internet users had experienced gender-based hostility online, ranging from harassment to threats of physical violence. Apps make it even easier for partners, acquaintances, and strangers to harass women. However, smartphones and wearable devices with location tracking and emergency notifications can also help protect women from violent interactions.

Some assert that cyber violence actually might be more damaging than in-person abuse because it has a wide audience, can be anonymous, and is insufficiently regulated.

But the key message here is that while technology can enhance women’s safety, online information typically puts “the onus on women to protect themselves from abuse.” According to the researchers:

About one-third of the protection articles discussed using technology to prevent cyber-stalking and nearly all emphasized how women should alter their use of technology to defend against the abuse. Few addressed the responsibility of tech companies to reduce the problem of misuse.

If technology and policy are truly going to protect women from violence, they must abandon norms of victim blaming and putting the responsibility of protection on women and instead target the people who stalk as well as the tech companies whose devices and software can easily be exploited to harm women.

It should go without saying that it is never the responsibility of a victim to change their behavior to protect themselves from harassment or violence. While the responsibility for harassment rests on the perpetrator, tech companies can also work harder to recognize their role in perpetrating violence against their customers and find ways to denounce, block, and cooperate in the creation of new policies that protect everyone.

The rapid development of new technologies often overtakes its thoughtful application. New research shows that some new technologies and apps may have some positive and negative effects on women’s safety. A report shows that almost 75% of female internet users had experienced gender-based hostility in 2015. Some technologies such as smartphones and location tracking wearable devices can also help protect women. Many people argue that due to its wide audience, anonymously effects, and insufficient regulation, cyber violence might be more damaging than in-person abuse. According to the researchers’ reports, about one-third of the related articles emphasized how women should alter their use of tech and just a few addressed the tech companies’ responsibility in this way. To truly protect women from violence, technology and policy must blame the people who stalk as well as the tech companies instead of victims. While it is true that the responsibility of harassment rests on the perpetrator, the tech companies must provide ways to denounce and block and also cooperate in the creation of new policies to protect everyone.

Due to rapid penetration of technology to our daily life, security issue of cyberspace becomes more important than before.
Gender-based hostility is increased to 75% of female internet subscribers.
Despite of what it appears, tech companies hold female users, responsible for their own private information protection.
One suggestion to tech companies is that the user privacy should not be compromised and also abandon norms of victim blaming can be as a real move.
The fact is women are not the ones who should change their behavior against the harassment or violence ,so in conclusion block and report options in social media apps like Instagram or establishing another diverse policies for protecting subscribers is useful.

While there are persuasive arguments in favor of positive effects of cyberspace on security of women, there are also downsides to be considered. In this paragraph, both pros and cons will be illustrated before a reasoned conclusion is drawn. On the one hand, proponents of merits of cyberspace for women’s safety claim that virtual space could be useful to protect women against different crimes committed on the Internet. From an educational standpoint, females can be taught about potential threats of cyberspace for their security in order to familiarize them with various demerits of cyberspace, and teach women how to protect themselves against cybercrime such as cyberstalking. On the other hand, supporters of the idea that cyberspace has an array of negative consequences for women opine that as a result of lack of technical knowledge about cyberspace and potential dangers that it has for females, cyber stalkers and black hat hackers are able to misuse private information of women saved on their personal computers or cloud storage and threaten females with disclosing their personal information. By way of conclusion, after considering positive impressions and negative points of cyberspace for females’ safety, it seems advisable that drawbacks of virtual space for women’s security outweigh its benefits.

Recently, the progress of technologies has significantly enhanced and led to some disadvantages.
Some report claimed that by 2018, the overwhelming vast majority of female internet users have faced with sex-based hostility online, including harassment and physical violence. The applications that go along with new tech make it easier for strangers to harass women.
Given that harassment happens in various ways, there are some measures to protect women's safety. The government must abandon norms of victim blaming and putting the responsibility of protection on women. Also, the tech companies whose devices and software can easily be exploited to harm women should be tracked.

In conclusion, although the rapid development of tech has brought easy life for men and women, it can be easily damaging to women’s safety by cyber-criminals.

Given the rapid progress in technology has outpaced using it in a toughtful manner, women have face a new version of violence caused by cyber criminals. It means that, Internet eases harassing female-Internet users in many ways.Furthermore, although women are the victims here, rather than puting the buredm on tech companies and people who stalk, they are the women who are often blamed for not taking caution. But the fact is thet women's role in protection pales in comparison with companies responsibily to provid a safer environment by recognizing cyber delinquents and create policies to denounce them.

Ubiquitous features of leading-edge advancements especially smartphones as well as makerspace outpace their projected efficiency, for taking their toll on and overshadowing women's safety and liberty. Surperisingly but regrettably, they, even though bringing obout more security thoroghout lication tracking competency, could simultanously put females in perlousez ranging from gender-based harrasment or intimidiation. Beside this, what make these felons much more crucial than in-person abuses is their blind and arduous-chasing inherent. Simply put, cyber attacks not only prove easily anonumous but also possess an abundancy of immolations. So, the moment having determination to cope with and curb these similar phenomenon, the society should not put all resposibilities on the shoulders of females to restrict or censor themself in virtual atmospher. But instead of this, polititions and tycoons should be indeed forced to pioneer and introduce protocoles whereby the protection of our vulnerable gender in the cyber medis is properly insured. In other words, any positive change as always is going to take all of us, not a blameless group.

Given the advancement of technology, gender-based hostility as a hassle of new techs and the apps go along with, may outpace its benefits.
Although some high tech gadgets including smartphones or wearable devices with location tracking have enhanced women´s safety, those females who are internet users may be expose to some hostilities ranging from harassment to physical violence. State-of-the-art applications may make it easier that both strangers and acquaintances harass women. Cyber violence, however, is considered to be more harmful and damaging than in-person abuse, due to wide audience and being anonymous. It is believed that cyber-stalking put the onus on female individuals to alter their internet approach to curb those inclinations. Advocators of this notion which assert responsibility rests on perpetrators, not only should abandon victim blaming, but also should address the responsibility to tech companies whose soft wares could be exploited to harm women. These companies oblige to denounce, block, or exert restrict policies to overwhelm these cruelties.

The rapid development of new technologies have outpaced its thoughtful application. A recent research has weighed up the positive and negative implications of new tech and the
apps going along with it, on women's safety. Owing to these apps, making offenders anonymous with access to a wide audience, a vast majority of female Internet users have experienced gender-based hostility ranging from harassment to threats of physical violence and found it even worse than in-person abuse. However it is undeniable that smartphones, apps and wearable devices being equipped with location tracking systems have gone a long way in enhancing women's safety. There is to say that, there are still many controversies on whether the onus rests on women to defend themselves against harassment, altering their use of technology. This victim blaming norm rather than addressing the responsibility of tech companies to reduce cyber-stalking should be abandoned, instead the tech companies would better to adopt new policies to reduce their role in perpetrating violence against their female customers, such as denouncing and blocking the perpetrators.

Women's safety has both positively and negatively been influenced by new technological developments including the Internet and its thoughtful applications. Hence, apart from many great protective measures, constituting smartphones and wearable devices with location tracking and emergency notification, which are bound to help women in violent interactions, a range of gender-based hostility as a form of cyber violence entails to be addressed properly. Nevertheless, despite the claim of enhancing women's safety via technology, it seems that online information has put the onus on women to protect themselves from abuse. In other words, many, while asserting women should indeed alter their use of technology to defend themselves against such abuse as cyber-stalking, scarcely address the responsibility of tech companies to reduce the problem of misuse. Women, however, are truly going to be protected by technology if these people would initially abandon norms of victims blaming and instead of putting the responsibility on women, target the individuals who stalk as well as the tech companies whose devices and software can easily be exploited to harm females. In fact, as the responsibility of harassment rest on the perpetrator, tech companies should play a key role in perpetrating violence against their customers through means of denouncing, blocking and creating new protective policies.

Advancements in technology, often outpacing its thoughtful application, have brought a significant change, positive and negative alike, in women’s digital lives. To begin with, while smartphones and wearable devices with location tracking can protect women from abuse, it concurrently can make it even easier for perpetrators to harass women. Regretfully, gender-based hostility, ranging from harassment to threats of physical violence, has increasingly become common in cyberspace. That is to say, technology might seem the best way of preventing cyber-stalking, but the negative consequences of the advent of new technologies and the apps that go along with them on women’s safety should not be neglected. Admittedly, cyber violence, due to insufficient regulations as well as a wide audience, either anonymous or known, can undoubtedly be more damaging than in-person abuse. Thus, providing that the aim of technology is to protect women from violent interactions, they must abandon norms of victim blaming, meaning instead of putting the onus on women to protect themselves from cyber-crime, they should address the responsibility of tech companies. This leaves no doubt that no one should expect victims to behave differently so as to defend themselves from harassment or violence. This is why the responsibility for harassment rests not only on the perpetrator but also on tech companies whose role is to prevent the perpetration of violence against their customers by denouncing, blocking, and creating new policies. Such measures are highly likely to minimize the problem of misuse.

New tech and apps that go along with it have more consequences on women’s safety, which seems to be by no means negligible, whether it is positive or negative. Tending to using online applications, female internet users have experienced gender based hostility online, ranging from harassment to physical violence. This is mainly because, apps make it easier for partners, acquaintances and strangers to harass women. This can be seen, for example, in the devices and software can easily be exploited to harm women. I addition to this, wide audience, can be anonymous, and thus, this insufficiently regulated lead to more damaging cyber violence than in person abuse. On the other hand, while technology can enhance women’s safely, online information typically puts the ouns on women to protect themselves from abuse. Actually women could learn and benefit from how to using technology to prevent cyber-stalking and defend against the abuse as well. Take smartphone and wearable devices with location tracking and emergency notification as an example which can help protect woman from violent interactions.

Technology and syberspace has had both positive and damaging consequences on women's safety. One crucial issue, regarding to the development of technology and applications going along with, is women's safety against cyberharassment and gender-based hostility online- ranging from harassment to physical violence. Some research confirmed that cyber violence might be excruciatingly more harmful than in-person abuse due to having wider insufficient regulated anonymous audiences. On the flip side, however, various array of of safety offerd on these tehnology and applications are failed to be ignored. in addition to equipment such as smartphones, wearable location tracking devices that guarantee women's protection, some helpful articles and guidlines are more likely to prevent cyber-stalking . A study asserts that those useful advice alterd women use of technology in order not to be exploited. Using cyberspace, as a result, has its own merite and demerit. Nevertheles, it puts safety responsibility on user mostly.

It seems that, just like the title of article suggests, the article is Effects/Solution type rather than Advantages/disadvantages, and if I am not mistaken it just refers to one disadvantage. So I wrote my summary in the way representing effects and suggested solutions?

The picture you have chosen is perfect?

Rapidly developing new technologies as well as apps gone along them, which outpacing their thoughtful applications, are believed to bring about some negative consequences on woman’s safety. However, smartphones and wearable devices equipped with location tracking are bound to protect women from violent interactions occasionally. On the one hand, there is mounting evidence, released in 2015 by United Nations, depicting that about 75% of women using the internet had been exposed to gender-based hostility. Additionally, apps far facilitate acquaintances and strangers to harass women. Having a wide audience and being done anonymously, cyber violence is asserted to be way damaging than in-person abuse. The condition, although, can be improved (remedied) if some down-to-earth actions are taken. To begin with, suggested by almost all cyber-stalking related articles, shouldering the responsibility (onus) of preserving themselves from abuse, women can alter their use of technology, thus leading to better defend against frauds. Furthermore, few articles addressed the responsibilities of tech companies. That is to say, the way easily softwares be exploited, the more likely women are in jeopardy of harassment. More specifically, companies should work harder to denounce and block perpetrators and create new policies. In conclusion, online violence against women can be regulated by alterations in the pattern of technology usage by women, and adopting new policies by companies to protect consumers.
