Conjoined twin girls are born in Bhutan. They share parts of their bodies with one another. It can be hard to survive if you are a conjoined twin.
Now they are 15 months old. Their mother takes them to Australia to get surgery. The surgery can separate them.
Eighteen doctors and professionals help the girls. They take 6 hours to do the surgery. The girls have only one abdomen. The doctors must make each baby a new abdomen.
The surgery goes well. The girls are getting better.

Fifteen-month old conjoined twins from Bhutan came to hospital in Australia for a special surgery. The girls were joined at the lower chest, the lower body, and shared an organ.
Doctors were not sure if the girls shared other organs too. Once the doctors started the surgery, they had to rebuild their abdomens. The team of 18 medical professionals successfully separated them after 6 hours. The babies are now getting better in the hospital.

In Australia, an 18-person team of medical professionals successfully separated 15-month-old conjoined twins from Bhutan after 6 hours of surgery.
The girls, named Nima and Dawa, were joined at the lower chest, pelvis, and shared their liver.
Doctors had not been sure if the girls shared a bowel and once they started the procedure, they had to reconstruct the twins’ abdomens. Now the babies are recovering at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
