Phrasal Verbs

تا به حال راجع به افعال عبارتی یا phrasal verb چیزی شنیدین؟

افعال عبارتی (Phrasal verbs) در زبان انگلیسی افعالی هستند که از ترکیب فعل با یک حرف اضافه یا قید ساخته می شوند. این افعال معمولا معنایی کاملا متفاوت با فعل اصلی دارند.

از آنجا که هیچ قانون یکپارچه ای برای مشخص کردن ساختار مفهومی این ترکیب ها وجود ندارد، معمولا نمی توانید از روی ترکیب فعل و حرف اضافه معنای فعل را حدس بزنید. توصیه می کنیم به جای تلاش برای حدس زدن معنای فعل به واژه نامه مراجعه کنید.

🔻run through

🔸Meaning: quick rehearsal

Let's run through the song once more bfore the show.

🔻Run After

🔸Meaning:

To chase someone or something

Ciro was late for work, sp he had to run after the bus.

🔻Run Down:

🔸Meaning:

Lose power

My laptop is quite old, so the battery runs down quite quickly. I need to charge it frequently.

🔻Run for

🔸Meaning:

Try to be elected; compete in an election

Joey is running for mayor this year. If she wins,  she will be in charge for the next four year.

🔻Run into

🔸Meaning:

Meet someone by chance

Julio ran into Carla at the supermarket. They hadn't seen each other for ages!
